Bromure v2.6.0 released — phishing, IKEv2, and more!
Version 2.6.0 brings an anti-phishing plugin, auto-updates, IKEv2 support, pinch-to-zoom, smarter battery management, and a long list of fixes.
Version 2.6.0 contains the following fixes and improvements.
Major new features
- Brand new anti-phishing plugin using a LLM on a server (currently hosted at bromure.io — source code coming soon). Sites which are obvious scams are completely blocked, while suspicious ones are flagged as such (with an explanation why). Install Bromure on your (grand)parents' macOS system and prevent them from falling prey to a number of scams! (Note: due to privacy reasons this feature is disabled by default in new profiles and must be enabled in Privacy & Security.)
- Auto-update mechanism — no need to regularly come to this page any more (related to #5).
- IKEv2 support.
- Pinch-to-zoom support.
- Better energy management — if a browser is unused for a while the VM gets suspended, saving battery.
- Users can select a default session to open links with (#8).
- Stop leaking our IP address at startup when a VPN is configured (#13).
- Port restriction now compatible with VPN ports (#17).
- Fixed an exception in the MCP server when parsing malformed JSON data.
- Newest version of the Linux kernel modules for video and the hardware clock.
- More resilience when creating a base image if optional files fail to install.
